These photos were taken of the
"former" Turntable Junction. This is not the Liberty
Outlets that is now closed and being turned into apartments and
condos in 2022. As of July 2024 they have "reassessed" the
number of these Liberty Village buildings and reduced the number
of housing units they will build there. Most of the
buildings are still there, that is another page. This is
Turntable Junction, a section next to the Outlets that was
operating before the Outlets were built. The area is still
open, the buildings have "for rent" signs in the windows.
It was called Turntable Junction as there was a "turntable" to
rotate the steam train the other direction at this location.
At the actual spot was a restaurant (no opened since the late
90s) with outside seating on the actual turntable. Around
2010 the stores started to close or change. I believe the
only thing left is a comic book store. There was a
Hispanic restaurant there for a number of year, but has since
closed. The former music store and bakery left sometime in
2020 (?). There is a building next to this location, it
seems still active. The Paul Bunyan village (a collection of 8 stores on the other side of Flemington) is still there. A great breakfast/lunch place is there (we go there when we need to be in Flemington in the morning). There is a different restaurant also located there, a new food store, a drone store. There is yet another section by the former Outlets that housed the Pottery Factory. Those buildings are next to the Outlets and are still quite active. A fall "beer fest" is held every year and quite popular. |
