These photos are from the Columbia Trail, the starting location
in High Bridge, NJ It is a total 15 mile path from an unused train tracks in Hunterdon County, the Ken Lockwood Gorge Wildlife Management Area, through Long Valley and just shy of Mount Olive, Morris County. It is basically level and small crushed rock path where I ride my E-bike. To the right of this sign above is a pretty large parking lot, and it gets busy on weekends. Right down this road is a brew pub, a small eatery, Chinese place, the Circa bar/restaurant, The Forge bar/restaurant all a short walk down the road . In Califon there is an eatery, open weekdays and Sat. The following photos are ones I have taken in 2021, on a Sunday in July. Lots of bikes, walkers, runners. Warning: If it's only 70ish, it is quit cool along the trail. Locals have decorated the area with birdhouses and Gnome houses. The photos may not be in order... |

Gnomes need housing too !
This is my electric bike I bought in 2019 I use for the trail. Magnum,
made in France.
Bought in a NJ store that is no longer there, but there is a
branch in
Verona NJ.
New housing development ...
This is one of the roads that intersect the trail, just more then a mile in.
I think that blue box is a "lost and found" location.
At that road crossing location, at times, someone sells eggs.
Plaque on one of the two "resting places" along the trail.
Bridge over Cokesbury Rd.
A
photo during the fall. Two times I found almost perfect square areas
cleared
in the path. Were the Gnomes looking to play some game ?
A barn along the path were some roads intersect the trail.
Monsters, monsters everywhere !
Bridge over the Ken Lockwood George river.
One of the other "resting places" you can see just
before the bridge.
Location with very steep rocks along the sides.
This is along Ken Lockwood George, that drop on the right is some 60ft.
Just a warning to some young bikers... be very cautious.
That is one steep hill with very little to stop you.
One of the many
yellow pipes warning of the high pressure gas line
buried under the trail.
Califon Railroad station (non functional) with some of the tracks from
the former line. This is a gift shop at times.
Nearing Rt. 513.
Vernoy Road on the right.
